EU ministers agree to implement TEN-T

24 June 2016

During the TEN-T days in Rotterdam, EU ministers discussed the process of implementing the Trans-European Transport Network, including new challenges and opportunities, new technologies, passenger mobility patterns and the digitalisation and automation of freight transport.

The ministers agreed on the implementation of TEN-T and reaffirmed the importance of the network as a key driver of sustainable growth, jobs, competitiveness and territorial cohesion in the EU. They underlined the need for additional funding from public and private sources to cover TEN-T investments.

The ministers stressed the importance of developing inland navigation and promoting its use by tackling key bottlenecks on the TEN-T core network corridors, providing support for the greening of the fleet and fostering the deployment of River Information Services (RIS).
