The Green Deal translated for transport
The European Commission prepares a Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy to achieve the Green Deal in transport. The publication is scheduled for December 2020. On top of mastering the twin green en digital transformation, Climate change and COVID-19 show that transport requires a resilient and crisis-proof system for generations to come. The Strategy will set out high-level objectives and list key areas for policy actions. It will inlcude an action plan with a list of measures.
Inland waterways and ports’ statement
As main infrastructure stakeholders in the inland waterway and multmodal transport sector, EFIP and INE believe that the upcoming Sustainable and Smart Transport Strategy of the European Green Deal should provide continued support to the inland waterway transport (IWT) sector and make a great leap forward in the European modal shift. EFIP and INE have prepared a joint statement building on the pillars sustainability, modal shift, digitalisation and resilience.
Public consultation
The Commission runs an open public consultation until 23 September on the topic.
