Upgrade of Gabčíkovo lock

The ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the project Upgrade of Gabčíkovo locks in the Slovak Republic took place on 20 June 2019.

At the same time the christening of a new Surveying vessel and Marking vessel in the framework of the EU FAIRway Danube project took place. Both projects are co-financed from European Union funds.

The main aim of the Gabčíkovo lock project is to increase the safety and intensity of water traffic. Modernizing the locks aims at the innovation and revitalization to ensure continuous and safe shipping on the Danube between the Slovak Republic and Hungary.
