When robots turn into Roboats
05 February 2017
New logistics concepts crop up in in several countries. One example is Roboat, the fully automated urban boats for goods and people developed by the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS Institute) in cooperation with MIT, Delft University of Technology and Wageningen University and Research.
These autonomous floating vessels in metropolitan areas will constitute the world’s first autonomous fleet for moving people, moving goods, dynamic infrastructure and environmental sensing.
The research is set in Amsterdam, has a budget of €25 million and first prototypes will be visible on the city’s waterways in 2017.
